Cora LaVerna Kelly was born 4 January 1898 in Spanish Wells, Eleuthera to Thaddeus Kelly (1868-1941) and Lula Jane Russell (1873-1958).

In March 1918, she married Benjamin AVERY Roberts (1891-1928), son of Thomas C Roberts (1855-1924) and Charlotte Ellen Pinder (1860-1934) at Spanish Wells.

They had children – among them Bessie Belle Roberts and Mervin Roberts. The children were born in Dade County, Florida. Avery Roberts, fisherman, had moved there before their marriage.

Cora was widowed in 1928 and never remarried. She died 8 November 1976 in Miami at 78 years of age.
