Lionel Archibald Hodgkins was born on August 7, 1919, in Green Turtle Cay, Abaco to James Alvin Hodgkins (1874-1957) and Georgiana Susan Lowe (1887-1983).

Lionel never married. He went on trips with his brothers, sponging and shark fishing. He was a carpenter and mason by trade and worked with his brother Richard at Treasure Cay, Abaco. He worked on boats travelling to Palm Beach and traveled with his brother Ronald, including a trip through the Panama Canal. He loved music, he was well known for his playing his electric steel guitar.

Lionel Archibald Hodgkins passed away on August 8, 1993 (age 74) in Green Turtle Cay, Abaco.
