Archie Duncan Lowe was born on September 28, 1898, in Green Turtle Cay, Abaco, Bahamas to Benjamin F Lowe (1858-1900) and Mary Elizabeth Roberts (1860-1936).

After the death of his father in 1900, his mother and siblings moved to Key West about 1901.

He enlisted in the United States Navy at the Recruiting Station in Key West, Florida. He served as a Boatswain Mate First Class and was discharged in 1919.

In Key West, Florida, on April 9, 1927, Archie married Virgie Smith (1904-1988) from Alabama. She is the daughter of James Beconridge Smith and Rachel Ann Garner.

Archie Duncan Lowe passed away on March 13, 1962 (age 63) in Key West, Florida and is buried in the City Cemetery.

Archie’s headstone and military records show he was born in 1896. In the US Census records and the registration of his birth, he is listed as born in 1898. He may have fabricated his age to enlist during WW1 which was common at the time.
