Benjamin CURTIS Lowe was born July 7, 1908, in Green Turtle Cay, Abaco to James LIVINGSTONE Lowe (1869-1945) and Sarah Alice Albury (1872-1949).

On May 27, 1944, he married Bessie Mae Sawyer (1918-1990) from Cherokee Sound, Abaco. She is the daughter of Joseph Prior Sawyer (1882-1966) and Nellie Gray Sands (1891-1958).

The family moved from Cherokee Sound to Little Harbour to man the lighthouse. This is where the children grew up and developed a love of nature. They would fish and hunt daily. The ‘creeks’ of Little Harbour were their back yard. Fifteen years later, the family moved to Hope Town and operated Bessie’s Bakery.

Loved their bread! Mr Curtis would bring a loaf every day when I was in Hope Town.
Benjamin CURTIS Lowe passed away on January 9, 1997 (age 88) in Hope Town, Abaco.
