Charles Luddington Sawyer was born on May 27, 1881, in Green Turtle Cay, Abaco to William Aladdin “Laddie” Sawyer (1855-1915) and Martha Lowe Sawyer (1859-1896).
In 1900 at Key West, Florida, he married Mary Elizabeth “Lizzie” Saunders (1883-1948), daughter of John Saunders and Susan Mary Russell Saunders (1862-1889).
Their children included Ruby Adelle, Nellie Louise, Grace Lauriette, and Mary Jeanette.
Charles L Sawyer died 25 June 1937 in Key West at 56 years of age.
