Samuel with his parents, Benjamin and Martha Curry, arrived in Key West in 1839. The family lived on Caroline Street.

On November 25, 1858, in Key West, Florida, Samuel married Emma Lowe (1842-1929) from Green Turtle Cay, Abaco. She is the daughter of Gideon J Lowe (1816-1894) and Mary Fletcher Curry (1820-1905).
