Sidney Carl Lowe was born on February 28, 1919 in Green Turtle Cay, Abaco to Basil Ambrose Lowe (1896-1966) and Rosa Muriel Roberts (1898-19??).
His siblings include Ernest Deweese (1917), Lillian Josephine (1922), Alice Anette (1925), Basil Owen ‘Red’ (1926), Kenneth (1929), Bert (1930).
In September 1942, Sidney married Libby Malvena Saunders (1922-19??), daughter of Benjamin James Saunders (1879-1953) and Olive Sawyer (1903-1965).
Sidney cut timber on the mainland of Abaco for boat building. He also went to sea for many years as an engineer and captain. In later years, he was a caretaker of private homes. He also established Sid’s Food Store in 1962.
On February 9, 1999 after he returned from fishing for a couple hours, he passed away peacefully in his home at Green Turtle Cay, Abaco.
