Captain William AUGUSTUS Roberts was born on December 7, 1859, in Green Turtle Cay, Abaco to Augustus Thomas Roberts (1840-1897) and Matilda ‘Tillie’ Roberts (1843-1895).

In 18??, Captain Augustus married Margaret ‘Muggie’ Sawyer daughter of ????. Their children include Osborne Campbell (1880), Paulena Lenora (1883), Hartley Bernard (1889), and George Roland (1894).

In March 1902, he married Edna Mae Brown (1886-1973) from Nassau, New Providence. She is the daughter of Thomas Benjamin Brown (1855) and Barbara Adeline Weatherford (1860). Their children included Bertram Richard (1904), Augustus Roberts (1906), John (1908), Iola Elizabeth (1910), Thomas Paul (1915), Adeline Matilda (1917), Edna Caroline (1922).

Capt. Augustus Roberts owned the Mailboat SV Albertine Adoue which along with his first three sons (Osbourne, Hartley and Roland) ran a route between Nassau and Abaco from about 1894 until 1923 when it was replaced by a diesel-powered vessel, the Priscilla.
