Una Cleo Saunders (1926-2016) was born on April 25, 1926, in Green Turtle Cay, Abaco to William Franklin Saunders (1897-1930) and Sarah Ida ‘Sadie’ Pinder (1904-1974).

Her siblings included Beulah Kathleen (1924), William (1928).

In 1948, Una married Benjamin Howard Lowe, Jr. (1924-1981) from Key West, Florida. He is the son of Benjamin Howard Lowe, Sr. and Mary Alvarez.

Benjamin Jr. is the grandson of Captain Arthur Alese Lowe.

Their children included Cheryl, Dan, Franklin and Walter.

Una Cleo Lowe née Saunders pass away on August 3, 2016 (age 90) in Weston, Florida.

Una Cleo Lowe of Weston, passed peacefully into eternal life on August 3, 2016 at the age of 90. Born in Green Turtle Cay, Bahamas on April 25, 1926. Una traveled to Miami where she met her husband, and they settled there to raise their family. Pre-deceased by her husband Ben, she is survived by her daughter Cheryl (Ron) Vavrick, and sons Dan (Kit) Lowe, Frank (Margie) Lowe, and Walter (Judy) Lowe. Una was ‘Nana’ to 8 grandchildren; Paul, Cathy, Michelle, Christopher, Melissa, Eric, Ryan and Sarah. She also leaves behind 8 great-grandchildren.

As a devout Baptist, she read the Bible daily. The way she lived her life was truly an example to all who knew her. She enjoyed spending time with her family of whom she was very proud and loved dearly. Una was passionate about her cups of hot tea and the Miami Dolphins. Her family and friends will miss her, but they are comforted by the memories of their time with her.
