Laddie Curtis Gates was born on May 19, 1932, in Green Turtle Cay, Abaco to Carl Adolph Gates (1909-1981) and Inez Louise Lowe (1910-1969).

In June 1955, Laddie married Ivy Florine Saunders daughter of Cyril Bernard Saunders (1912-1994) and Vivian Albertha Russell (1917-2009).

At an early Age, Laddie Gates moved to Nassau where he attended Eastern Senior School. Later, he joined the Royal Bank of Canada’s Collection Department and worked his way up to the position of Assistant Manager. He later developed a successful real estate business.

Laddie Curtis Gates passed away on December 22, 2015 (age 83)
