Alton R Lowe recalls…
Alice was my father’s niece. When I was a young boy, Alice took me to see the film Gone With The Wind at the Savoy Theatre in Nassau. Years later I met Vivian Leigh in New York.
Joy Lowe Jossi recalls…
Alfred BATES Albury moved to Nassau at the age of 15 where he worked at Cole’s Pharmacy, trained by Mr. George M Cole as a druggist-pharmacist. Bates and his wife, Alice, moved back to Spanish Wells in Aug 1971. When I was a teen, Bates, a friend with my older siblings, was often in our house. I liked to visit with Bates and Alice at Spanish Wells. They proudly showed me the new Spanish Wells Methodist Church. I saw his devoted care of Alice in her late years.
Alice Maude Albury née Gates passed away April 17, 2007 (age 71) in Nassau, New Providence and is buried in the Spanish Wells Methodist Cemetery. She is my 3rd cousin 1 time removed.
