Joy Lowe Jossi recalls…

Ms. Vivian, Home Furniture greeter. I looked forward to the door entry and her warm welcome smile! Meeting her set a good tone. And later (1998) I met her daughter Ivy in similar Volunteer role of comfort dispenser at Doctors’ Hospital.

Mark Hayling reflects…

Mrs. Saunders was the hardest working salesperson on the floor of Home Furniture. I remember coming down to the store with Grandad Herbert Roberts on many a Sunday and Mrs. Saunders would be there to restock the shop. Mr. Saunders always had a joke to tell. They were both wonderful people! I was privileged to work with them.

Vivian was known to many for baking the most incredible tasting fruitcakes.

Vivian passed away in August 2009 (age 91).

Hope Town was settled in 1785 by British loyalists who fled after the American Revolutionary War.  Situated on one of Abaco's barrier reef islands, Hope Town is easily recognized by its candy-striped lighthouse that towers over the settlement of New England style clapboard cottages and narrow bicycle lanes.
